Here is how the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) process works for international commercial travelers arriving at McAllen International Airport — from your seat on the plane to the main lobby.
- On the plane. You will receive a 6059B Customs Declaration Form. Each arriving traveler, or one responsible family member, must complete it and list every item being declared.
- Federal Inspection Services (FIS) area. After deplaning, go to the line that matches your status: U.S. Citizens & Resident Aliens, or U.S. Visitors.
- CBP Officer inspection. Present your travel documents and completed declaration form. Once cleared, continue to the baggage carousel.
- Secondary inspection. With all your baggage, present yourself, your form and your bags to CBP Officers and CBP Agriculture Specialists. You may amend your declaration. If selected for additional screening, officers will examine your bags for prohibited or regulated items.
- Exit. After clearance, leave FIS through either set of double doors and take the elevator directly in front of you, or the ramp to the left, to the main lobby.
